When I first heard that Libba Bray was coming out with a new book I was stoked, her previous series is one of my all time favorites.  Honestly, I was a little disappointed the by the end of the first chapter simply because it was so different from the Gemma Doyle trilogy, but by the second chapter I had forgotten all about the disappointment and was captivated by the story! A boy with mad cow disease, his hypochondriac side-kick who goes by the name of Gonzo and a yard-gnome named Balder set off on a journey that takes them to many strange places that are a little out of this world - literally. Definitely a good read that is great for someone looking for a little bit of mind twisting action!

A rebellious debutante is the leading lady in the first book of a supernatural trilogy.  Gemma Doyle is a sixteen-year old girl who is thrown into the cut-throat world of a  London boarding school after her mother’s murder (or possibly suicide) drives her family out of their home in India. While searching for the hidden clues of her mother’s past, Gemma sets out on a journey that not only leads to the discovery of her family roots, but also to the heart of who she really is. Five years after originally reading this book it is still my favorite book of all time.  The second and concluding books in the trilogy, Rebel Angels and The Sweet Far Thing, are no let-down as well! I have yet to find a books that compare to the Gemma Doyle Trilogy!
